● What to expect

How It Works: From Fresh Blooms to Framed Art

● Step 1

Booking a Date

Before we begin preserving your flowers, you’ll need to confirm availability for your wedding or event date. We only accept a limited number of bouquets per weekend to ensure quality and attention to detail.

If your date is available, you’ll receive a follow-up email with booking details, including:

  • Your preferred frame size

  • Any add-on frames, ornaments

  • Deposit information for securing your date

Deposits: $100 for all bookings. Your booking is not finalized until the deposit is received.

● Step 2

Flower Drop-Off

Fresh flowers should be dropped off within a day or two of your event, ideally Sunday or Monday following a weekend wedding. Drop-off takes place at Erin’s home studio in Willoughby, Ohio (20 minutes east of Cleveland).

You’ll receive clear drop-off instructions and flower care tips via email 2–3 weeks prior to your event date.

● Step 3

Drying & Designing

Here’s what happens next:

  • Flowers are carefully taken apart and pressed flat using a traditional wooden flower press.

  • Flowers remain in the press for 8 weeks. Frame selection including design and wood choice is finalized during this time with a touch base email.

  • Once dried, petals are reconstructed and gently rebuilt to mimic the flower's original shape. (I do not want color correction to be in this area)

  • Flowers are arranged into a custom design mockup, and you’ll receive a photo preview around the 12-week mark.

  • Once approved, you’ll pay the remaining balance and framing will begin.

Clients always comment on how substantial our frames feel in their hands because they’re the real deal.

● Step 4

Frames Crafted to Last a Lifetime

After design approval, your flowers are then glued to the glass, cleaned, and sealed in your selected hardwood frame. These frames are made locally by our woodworking partner using materials like:

  • Natural Oak

  • Walnut

  • Black-Stained Walnut

We believe in letting the wood’s natural texture shine. There are no painted finishes, no mass production. These frames are solid, heavy, and meant to become heirlooms.

Designs That Honor Your Flowers

When booking, we ask that you choose a design preference, but it can be changed up until drop-off. Orientation (portrait or landscape) will be decided based on your bouquet’s natural flow and structure, unless you specify otherwise.

  • Bunched Design – Traditional

A rounded, balanced design that highlights a classic bouquet shape with some negative space around it.

  • Bunched Design – Whimsy

A more organic layout with wild stems and hand-tied shapes. Great for loose, boho-style bouquets.

  • Scattered Design

A modern, artful arrangement where individual petals and blooms are placed thoughtfully - ideal for a less literal look.

  • Meadow Design

Mimics the feel of flowers in a meadow, rising from the bottom and moving upwards. Requires a lot of variety in blooms.

  • Artist's Choice

Let Erin guide the creative process. She’ll sit with your flowers, listen to how they “want” to be designed, and create something magical.
Nothing is glued until you approve the mockup.

  • Custom Designs - Inclusions

Want to include your wedding invitation, hand-written vows, or photos? These can be incorporated into your frame or made as keepsake gifts.

  • Custom Design - Matted

All design styles can be customized to have a white mat backing instead of double glass.

  • Commission-Based Designs

Need a custom size or something totally unique?  We can collaborate with our local framing partner to accommodate special sizing requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I strive to respond within 24 hours, but on busy weekends, can be up to 3 business days.

  • Partly. We book other couples based upon the size you decide, so that is required. But if you aren't sure on the rest, don’t let that deter you from inquiring. We can decide that during our check-in while flowers are drying around 4 weeks after the wedding.

  • When the mockup design is sent, before gluing and framing about 12 weeks after the event.

  • We strive to have a mockup design within 12 weeks and final frame within 16 weeks. When getting married in peak season (May-Oct) the lead time can be longer.

  • We open the books for the calendar year in January, so we are currently booking 2026 preservations. Many peak season weekends book up quickly. It's never too early to book for this calendar year!

  • Please submit an inquiry to see if we have availability.

For last minute wedding bookings, there is a $50 charge, pending availability.

  • Yes, we can take up to 1 memorial preservation per week, even in peak season. It is our desire to serve our community and understand that memorials can't be planned ahead. Availability is based on personal schedule and commitments and there is not a last minute booking fee.

  • Flowers change alot in the pressing process - both in shape and color.

Some flowers lose color, dry darker, or change to a color you don't expect. The mockup design will highlight any of the changes that occurred. At Marlowe, we love that change and prefer to keep flowers in their natural state where possible.

  • Whites will dry to more creamy, antique, yellow, or tan tones depending on the variety

Reds will dry to darker maroon / purple tones

Oranges vary - roses have alot of shifting to their undertone and go yellow or even lavender

Yellows keep their color most of the time

Greenery will often keep their color and go more olive over time depening on the variety

Blues keep their color most of the time

Purples will usually dry a bit darker that their original

Pinks and Peaches vary the most and can change quite a bit, sometimes losing a lot of color or drying darker than expected

  • Yes - but it is at the artist's discretion and used sparingly.

Color correction is offered on select blooms where color is drained and needs to be put back into the flower to help it feel reminiscent of the colors in the original bouquet and meet the overall aesthetic the designer is looking to achieve. Full color enhancement of every bloom is not a service we offer.

  • Flowers can dull over time due to it being an organic material. This is natural and not a defect of the product and differs from flower to flower. To slow this down, we suggest to keep the flower preservation out of direct sunlight and high heat areas prone to moisture like entryways without heat or air conditioning, bathrooms, or above fireplaces.

  • Yes - just let us know on your inquiry form and we can provide estimates for shipping.
